The purpose of this assignment is to explore the characteristics of light.

Reflection

This assignment was super tricky for me, but I have learned the most through the most challenging assignments. I first had a hard time with the white balance. I tried figuring out how to go about that without a grey card. I followed along with the videos and eventually figured it out. For Christmas last year, I was given a backdrop and light from amazon, so that came in handy trying to do this assignment. Although I had quite a few difficulties, the most difficult was Ironing the backdrop sheets. That took me FOREVER. After setting it all up, I struggled to figure out my exposure settings to fit the different light situations. Some adjustments definitely had to be made in Lightroom to adjust my mistakes with the exposure. I wish I had changed my Aperture on some of them, so all the subjects were in focus.

I did learn quite a bit about light. It was helpful putting a name to the different lighting setups. When I go to work at the dealership, I can better understand what would make the cars look good. During this assignment, I found myself thinking about all the different lighting setups I could use for portraits to create other effects. It will be interesting to apply these different characteristics to my future work. Overall I am happy with how these photos turned out.
